but at the request of the 5.0. he took up duty as

Tutor to the young Emperor of China, and is considered

by F.0. to have rendered quite remarkable services in that

capacity. He is now stranded without a post and almost

without resources and I consider that he has a very

strong claim .M.C. for a high post.

I strongly hope that it will be possible to

give him the Col. Secship of H.K. for a few years.
